How do I read my e-books?
US Readers
Gothic Sci-Fi Books partners with Bookfunnel to deliver e-books. When you buy here, Bookfunnel will email you a link to download your book. Bookfunnel cannot automatically send books to your device; this is a limitation imposed by certain huge, online book resellers to keep readers from going direct to authors. That said, if you borrow e-books from libraries, the process to get the book to your device won’t be alien (or onerous).

International Readers
Gothic Sci-Fi Books partners with Smashwords to distribute e-books outside of the US market.

Are there any content warnings for the novels?
Unsurprisingly, given our store name, GSFB specializes in Gothic science fiction novels. They are the antithesis of “cozy.” More bitter than sweet, Gothic sci-fi novels aren’t for everyone. However, if you enjoy suspense, realistic science, unhappy endings and don’t mind mixing all that with supernatural elements, our books won’t disappoint.
We do not provide lists of trigger warnings. First, we cannot possibly know what will be upsetting to all people. Second, we believe you are more than capable of deciding not to continue reading any book, whether published by us or not. Third, GSFB are meant to unsettle the reader.
If you aren’t sure our books are for you, we provide substantial samples on each book listing. If you are wary to even skim the samples, our books probably aren’t for you. Still here? Welcome to our twisted corner of the literary world!
What's the reccomended reading order for the Antigone Effect Series?
The books in Antigone Effect are standalone novels. They can be read in any order, without sacrificing any of the story. However, if you want to read them in the timeline within the Antigone Effect ‘universe,’ the order is:

Paperback format novels and non-fiction e-books are exclusive to Gothic Sci-Fi Books. International buyers can purchase e-books using Smashwords.
What if I'm buying internationally?
E-BOOKS: You can purchase our sci-fi novels on Smashwords.
PAPERBACKS: Paperbacks are not available internationally.
We would love to sell paperback directly to our international readers. Our hesitancy to do so is because the cost will be prohibitive to you, the reader. European VAT, U.S. taxes, and the costs GSFB pays to the distributor add up fast.
Where can physical books be shipped?
Gothic Sci-Fi Books would love to ship internationally – someday. Right now, paperback delivery is limited to the United States and military APO addresses.
Is payment processing secure?
Gothic Sci-Fi Books is hosted by InMotion. They keep your information secure on their servers using SSL and real-time threat monitoring. InMotion is a reputable hosting service that specializes in the intricacies of protecting WordPress sites, including this one.
The next layer of protection is within the site itself. Gothic Sci-Fi books leverages JetPack to prevent malicious actors from accessing the site.

Why don't I see Gothic Sci-Fi Books on invoices, receipts, or bank statement?
Gothic Sci-Fi Books is the storefront for Pendletyn & Bromptyn, LLC. Pendletyn & Bromptyn is the legal entity, which is why charges appear with that name and not GSFB. Pendletyn & Bromptyn LLC is registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia (USA) by Erzsebet Carmean.
What are the refund and return policies?
All digital purchases are final! Please keep this in mind when you are shopping.
Gothic Sci-Fi Books does not refund or allow returns on e-books purchases. We partner with Bookfunnel to deliver the files and cannot accept returns. If you cannot access your purchased book, click the Help link at the top of the Bookfunnel download page.
Gothic Sci-Fi Books does not allow returns of physical books. If a physical books arrives in damaged condition, please use the contact form to discuss sending a replacement book.
Gothic Sci-Fi Books will refund purchases of physical books for a limited time after the order is placed. We individually pack and ship each order. Unlike digital purchases, there is a short window of time when you’ve paid, but we haven’t shipped. Use the contact form to contact us for a cancellation. Once the book is shipped, the order can no longer be refunded.
How do you use my information?
Your contact details (name, address, email) are used to fulfill orders.
- Gothic Sci-Fi Books DOES NOT sell your information.
- Gothic Sci-Fi Books DOES provide data to third parties to facilitate processing orders. For physical books, that means your name and address are exposed to the post office people. For e-books, your email is shared with BookFunnel so they can send you the link to download.
- Gothic Sci-Fi Books DOES NOT provide your information to anyone unless they have a subpoena & we hope it never comes to that!
